Thank you, Lord! There was no desperate draft day trade made by the Chicago Bulls, instead they went with the “Best Available” talent, Matas Buzelis. But before we go and give Arturas Karnisovas and Marc Eversley credit, it’s important to note that Buzelis is another tall player that can’t shoot very well.
Buzelis falls directly into the AK type of player: 6′ 10″, 209 lbs, 19 years old, and 27.3% from three point land. He’s going to fit right in with the rest of the roster that can’t hit threes.
It’s a good thing the Bulls hired a shooting coach last season.
I don’t want to bury Buzelis before he has a chance to prove me wrong. He has plenty of upside. His size and athleticism allow him to finish convincingly at the rim. He is an excellent alley-oop target, and he has some dribbling skills. Buzelis is a passable defender, with decent awareness and instincts. He is a pretty consistent help defender and even provides some rim protection (he averaged 2.1 blocks per game in the G-League). He does have a hard time getting around screens, but all-in-all, Buzelis should have a decent NBA career.
There isn’t much more to say about the Bulls draft. They didn’t trade Coby White or Ayo Dosunmu, which made me happy. They also didn’t trade Zach LaVine, which just makes me anxious.
I’m going to end this post with some Matas Buzelis highlights:
Next up is free agency!
Until then, thanks for reading, thanks for subscribing, and GO BULLS!

Have you watched his highlights … his shooting form looks good. He’ll shoot just fine.

I have watched his highlights. His form looks good, he just needs to sink a better percentage from distance. I think he can get there, he just hasn’t shown any consistency at making 3’s yet.
